Adding Google site map is adding hierarchies of  blog content to be indexed and crawled by Google. The benefit of adding Google site map to blog :

1. We can get better crawl coverage and search results to help people find more of our web pages. 
2. Get detailed reports about how Google directs traffic to our blog 
3. How Google bot sees our pages. With Blogger, Blogger's don't have access to servers and  have no chance to upload a real site map, Google suggest to add a kind of blog site map by making use of the feed (supposed it is still better than nothing). Set our feed to "Short" and not "Full". In this way, there will be a links for the search engine spider to follow all the posts.
